Today was a combination of the awards banquet and some fun racing. They ran a "cone weave", (slalom), drag racing and a backwards race. It was also Matthew and Michael Moquin's first night of racing.

Christian was the first driver out for the cone weave, so he got to show everyone the course. Steven was next, they both did fine with that.

Steven won the backwards race! There were 6 karts, and they had to drive the wrong way on the track.

Then came the drag racing! Steven almost won the whole thing. He ended up tied for second out of about 30 entries. The one that finally got him was a lightweight modified. Steven led most of the way, but just got passed in the last few feet. It was great!

A strange night... We didn't arrive until 6:30 and missed the heat races. We only had Steven's kart tonight, so we unloaded and he went out to run the feature. Although it was a close and hard-fought race, Steven remains undefeated, 9 wins in 9 career starts!

My boys put on the best race I've ever seen at Hurricane Speedway! They drove through traffic to run first and second in the heat race, then they went at it for the win! It was side by side for the last 3 laps. Christian won it in a drag race to the finish line!

Unfortunatly, Steven's engine broke at the start of the feature, so he didn't get to race, BUT Christian won his first main event!

This was Steven's first night in our new Prowler kart. He ran in the Junior II class.

Steven was really smart: he started out carefully, but was going great by the end of the night. He was racing against two others, so it was good practice and he won his class both times! 13 wins in a row!

Christian did great too. The track had a "make-up" feature from an earler rain-out, and Christian won both of his races! He is going great in #33.
